I am most happy out in the field. Fixing up an existing building to achieve a NBS (New Building Standard) above 67% is something seen all around Christchurch. This is because older buildings were not designed with the earthquake load considerations of today. I was able to look at the slab pour in action, check out fixes to improve the lateral resisting system, and see some classic short column hinge forming and near failure from the shakes. Yup, I love being on on site in my high vis coat!
