For an area that really does not need another disaster, the recent mega storm has really made more homes uninhabitable. Rain for almost 36 hours straight have caused the Avon and Heathcote Rivers to flood thier banks. The Avon runs right through downtown Christchurch. The Heathcote is south of downtown at the base of the Port HIlls.
